VORTEC is short for the Victorian On Road Track Executive Comittee. Most, if not all RC car clubs in Victoria run VORTEC classes. This enables our club members to participate in VORTEC interclub challenges (if they wish) throughout the year, and also use a standard set of rules and guidelines.

If you race electric, bring 2 other friends down and you are guaranteed a spot in the race day. Our electric classes currently DO NOT conform to VORTEC rules.

Race Length:
We usually run 3 or 4, 5 minute heats for each class. Concluding with a 10 minute final near the end of the day. We supply club transponders on the day to all cars, so we can time the cars and count the laps. Our races are computer controlled using our state of the art rctiming.com software. Races are called and scheduled automatically.

Can anyone join?:
Of course! We welcome women and men of all age groups to come down and have a great fun filled day. You don't need to be the fastest or the winner to have a great day. Of course you will need to bring a car and all the fuel and spares you think you'll need. Come and see what you gave up from your childhood/teenage years and see how much fun it can be! We have age ranges from 6 to 50+, so your never too old or young! You can also come down and just watch the racing if you like and get a feel for it.

What if i've never raced before?:
Don't worry, we have all been there before. Most of us have either started by racing cars in the driveway or street, and now enjoy the challenge and fun of racing at a proper radio control race track. Come down on one of our race days and see Mike in the green race control caravan. He will be more than happy to show you around. If you are new to the sport and a bit nervous, bring your car down and we will help set it up for you and assist you in getting the most from your car and you. If you don't yet have a car and are thinking of getting into the sport, come down and see us on one of our race days. Don't worry we don't bite, are very friendly and will help you out by advising what you will need to get started. Also while you are online take a look at http://www.gettingstartedinrc.com/cars/index.asp . They have a great introduction into radio control cars.

But it's expensive isn't it?:
"it's only as expensive as you want it to be". It's like any other sport such as football, soccer, fishing etc where you can spend as much or as little as you want on particular items. You can get into our sport from as little as $400-$500 for a nitro car, electrics are even cheaper, that will get you started with a basic car and radio setup. Once you have bought the main items (Car & Radio), then the ongoing costs are fuel, tyres and spares, and in the case of electrics, batteries and motors.. You can spend as much or as little as you want. It's also a great way for the family to spend some quality time together. Most of us take the kids to the footy and then sit in the car and watch or go home, Now you have found a sport where the whole family can actually participate together! We also have a novice class for the beginners where you can learn and have fun in a relaxed environment.

Club sponsorship?:
As a club we are always welcome to new sponsors. Some of the benefits of sponsoring our club are - Advertising space for your company on our race control caravan, which gets towed back and forth to the racedays, so you will get prominent presence while we are on the road. Your company logo will also be featured on our homepage of the website, which links back to your website or email address, and you can also have a feature page on our website if you wish, highlighting your products and services. These pages are professionally created by our webmaster, and he will talk through it with you on what sort of page you would like displayed. Some of our sponsors already are: Bakers Delight Somerville, Daytripper tours and Good Guys Frankton. We are a registered organisation inc. A0044652G, so any donations are tax deductable.
