VORTEC NITRO ROUND 2 (SOMERVILLE)) 3 Years, 6 Months ago
Schedule for round 2 of the VORTEC Nitro Challenge 2005.

Please distribute to all VORTEC drivers.

Saturday Practice:

The track will be open for practice from 10:00am until 4:00pm. The driver’s stand, boards, and disks will be setup. No timing equipment will be used, and practice will not be organized into groups. The frequency keyboard will be used to control frequency clashes. Practice is open to all drivers at their own risk, the club will only be setting up and packing up the track, and it will not control practice or have any other responsibility. BBQ and Drinks will be available to purchase.

Sunday

Registration 8:30 – 9:00

All drivers are to report to the transmitter compound with their car (in race trim less fuel) and transmitter on selected frequency for registration, with their $10.00 entry fee. No car is to be started before 9:00.

Drivers Meeting 9:00

All drivers please bring cars for photos and concourse judging.

Practice 9:30 – 10:30

Each heat will get a 7-minute practice session, including collecting transmitters, engine starts etc.

Heats 10:30 – 2:30

All classes will have 3 rounds of qualifying, which will be 5 minutes plus last lap with 4 minutes between heats.

Finals Grids Announced 2:40

Finals 2:50 – 4:10

All classes will have 1 x 15 minute A Final (top 10 only), with 5 minutes between finals.

Presentations 4:30

Times:

Extra time has been allowed between heats and finals, but this makes things tight if something goes wrong. So please make sure you are ready, because the computer will not be stopped.

Transmitter compound:

A transmitter compound will be used at all times on Sunday. Transmitters will be made available to drivers when groups are called for practice, heats and finals. Drivers please ensure that cars, transmitters and transponders are returned to the transmitter compound immediately upon completion of practice session, heat or final. Transmitters will not be issued to drivers until the transmitters from the previous race have been returned.

Starting Method:

The computer system will call the start of each race. 4 minutes will be allowed between heats. IFMAR starts will be used. Cars will be called in at 30 seconds to go for refueling. The computer will call cars away one at a time after the computer has called for the race to start. For the finals there will be 5 minutes between races, again cars will be called in at 30 seconds to go. The race director will ask for all cars to be placed on the track and the race will start when the siren sounds from the computer.

Drivers Stand:

The driver’s stand must be used.

Marshalling:

All drivers are to marshal the race immediately after theirs.

Concourse:

Concourse will be judged at the drivers meeting (9:00), and all cars and bodies presented for judging must be legal and compete in at least one race.

Food:

Drinks and BBQ will be available on Saturday. Egg and bacon rolls for breakfast, BBQ and hot food for lunch, drinks chips and chocolate bars will be available throughout the day on Sunday.

Power:

240v power will be available.

Toilet:

Toilets will be available to use on Saturday and Sunday.

Parking of cars:

No vehicles are permitted to park past the school car park. Trolleys/wheelbarrows are advised to be used.

Behavior:

Undue rough driving, un-sportsman like behavior, bad language, abuse of marshals and officials, interference or abuse of other competitors will not be tolerated. Inappropriate behavior on the drivers stand, in the pits or on the track can incur a penalty of up to disqualification from the meeting.

Alcohol and Drugs:

All visitors, pit crew, marshals and drivers, are strictly prohibited from consuming or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. Non-compliance with this will result in immediate disqualification and ejection from the event.

Track Location:

Somerville Rise Primary school, Corner Blackscamp and Graff Roads Somerville, Melways map 148, D2.

Regards Michael Wade.
