And that Craig is the very point I was trying to argue. - I'll only make 1 more statement regarding the 4200 cells, they have a lot more voltage and are an unfair advantage given all other things being equal.

Now that we have that out of the way, what about this sport tuned fiasco - why don't we just limit to kit 540 out of the box motors...just 1 less expense!

and i'll talk to you regarding back EMF and stray eddie currents next time !

I totally agree with you on that point, If 4200 cells are that much better, then fine ban them, but what methods do we have in place to control who is using what, our race days can get to 5pm now.

What happens when Hung Long batteries in Taiwan bring out the "Plasma Titanium Edition" battery with 6000mAh, do we have to keep adding items to an ever increasing list?

Is it asking too much to try and simplify the rules, whilst at the same time make it a "Reasonably level" playing field?

Should we a specify a minimum battery that you should purchase in order to race?

How do the other clubs control what is in the cars?, is scrutineering part of the racing schedule? How does Boronia control the classes? If it's a case of "lets put the rules in, and if people don't follow it, then doesn't really matter", then why create the rule in the first place.

I like RCNUTS idea about the Mini pro and Mini stock class, you could also have a similar thing for the Electric class (TB02, TA05) etc etc..

Will it affect our VORTEC contentions if we have slightly different classes to them?

Stock could be "Stock Box setup" with tyres and shocks only, similar to pull start sport.

Mini Pro could be "Whatever your heart desires in a brushed motor", and hop ups as far as your wallet will take you.

What does everyone else think? it can't be just the 3 of us!! With the level of interest in this class, we need to get the foundations right now...

at least if we stay with a 540 stock or sport tuned tamiya motor it will still be possible for the stock guys or girls to move up a class if they wish and spend little money.

at the same time do other clubs in vic run brushless mini class(i am not sure just asking)

cheaper the mods the better.

cheers

Post edited by: RCNUT, at: 2007/03/29 21:13

well here is my opinion you will need to run 2 classes

1 class stock the other modified even race at the same time depending on numbers

Stock is just that stock everything and limit the battery capacity.

keep it fair for the the people that want to run a relatively cheap car and have a good time and maybe even win a couple of races.

For the modified go for your lives do what you want.

As for me ill be watching the stock class there will be more cars more action and a lot more laughter.

Ive seen the mini stock class run over here in sunny geelong and it was about 8 cars on the same lap fighting it out corner after corner the best racing i've seen.

And everyone enjoys a good laugh and you just cant help it watching the little mini's wizzing around.

So thats me .

Howdy,

don't crucify me if i get alot wrong here i'm just sayin how i see it with my extremely limited knoladge.

In the "About us" section of this website it says that there are basicaly no restrictions on your electric class, and since you only have one compared to the multiple nitro classes that appears to be a good idea that way your not stopping anyone from joining in. I came along 2 fortnights ago and descovered that was probably true (memories of a poor little ferrari getting lapped by someone going backwards, but it was all in good fun)

I show up last sunday to have a race, (to find out a little about your club, and what kind of people there are to see if this is where i want to join up and get into this hobby etc etc etc.) to find a few people standing around argueing about who can and cant race with what mods. After listnening for a while it all styarted to make sence. to only use the stock motor so it can be competetive for any joe blow off the street to come join and have a minor chance at a win (after all I'M a jo blow off the street who's never raced before)

Bt then after everyonme had packed up and left, my mates and I decided since we got up so damn early on a sunday we'll race amongst ourselves so out come the cars. On;y to descover the motor that came with the car we bought is too powerfull to compete with you guys, so i need to spend even more money to DOWNGRADE to a point where i'm competetive.

Your website says

QUOTE:
Electric cars:

We run electric classes including Tamiya mini subject to race entrant numbers. There needs to be a minimum number of 3 entrants per class to hold a race. If you race electric, bring 2 other friends down and you are guaranteed a spot in the race day. Our electric classes currently DO NOT conform to VORTEC rules.

So whats wrong with having more than one class if the numbers permit. There's 3 of us with brand sapnkin new cars, never raced, out of the box with black sports tunbed motors (and drift tyres) why can't we race? have a class of our own? maybe even start a drift spec class? black motors, drift tyres, whatever suspension stuff (you guys know more than me)

Or my original thought, if black motors are "illegel" can't i just get on the track (with or without my drift tyres on) and have some fun??? join the same race but i can't win??? just me versus my mates on your track??? or am i missing the point? is this club to serious for "fun"?

I've got to tell you i didn't feel like this would be worth my $50 to join.... and then another $15 for a downgraded motor that i would only use at your races. You guys seem way to serious for people like us who don't have hundreds of dollars to keep pooring into the hobby but still want to be able to muck around with mods and have somewhere other than a car park to drive in...

Just the thoughts of a complete NooB looking for someone to help out and have some fun with.
